PRINTMAKER PROFILE

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a MA Visual communication graduate from the university of Derby. I studied Illustration for over four years and printmaking has always run along side or played a key part in my illustrations.

I am a member of the Leicester Print Workshop (LPW) where I print when I am not at home at my desk with my kids and cat. I create in a way which allows me to screen print any of my illustrations. Which often means that my work is line drawings with the odd splash of colour for emphasis. For more decorative pieces I use patterned paper or my own designs to provide a alternate way to colour my image.

I dabble in lino printing when I can not make it to LPW. When working with lino I like to produce patterns and find the easiest way to do this is by producing my own lino-stamps. This allows for more flexibility with colour and shapes and requires less storage which is an issue working from home with a family. I have a love for nature and literature and enjoy showing the beauty of life.
