Vincent Patterson is an accomplished interdisciplinary artist and educator, hailing from the North West of England. A distinguished graduate of the University of Chester, he holds a Master of Arts degree in Design. Patterson’s artistic journey is marked by a profound exploration of thematic elements centering on lost narratives and fragmented memories, artfully transcribed onto the canvas of print Within the realm of printmaking, Patterson exhibits a versatile mastery across a spectrum of mediums, including Screenprint, Risograph, Photography, Typography, and Illustration. His work is characterized not only by its visual impact but also by the intricate process behind its creation. He adeptly integrates found and reappropriated imagery, seamlessly weaving them into a tapestry of rich textures and vibrant colours. The tactile dimension of his art emerges as he meticulously layers inks, collage elements, pencil sketches, and oils by hand, resulting in the production of distinctive screen-printed monoprints In his recent oeuvre, Patterson captures the essence of stolen cinematic moments, infusing them with the spirit of the French New Wave, all while undergoing a transformative journey through vivid neon landscapes. Employing papercut stencils, he expertly hand-pulls his creations through silkscreens, crafting intricate textures that serve as a canvas for narrative images. These images, like pieces of a fragmented puzzle, are meticulously distressed and thoughtfully sequenced to construct individual frames, each narrating a story that unfolds like an elusive cinematic gem.
