Kathryn Fox

PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

Kathryn Fox is fine art trained (graduated 2008) with a current focus in her practice on printmaking. She has exhibited her work and participated in events locally, nationally and internationally, and now works primarily out of West Yorkshire Print Workshop, where she also tutors screen printing courses regularly.

She has been working almost exclusively with screen printing during the last 4-5 years, selling her work at UK print fairs, The Gallery at Sunny Bank Mills, West Yorkshire Print Workshop and the Art House Wakefield, among others. She is represented by Tinker Gallery, Ilkley, where she regularly shows work for sale. Her most recent participations in open selected exhibitions include: ‘A Generous Space’ by Artist Support Pledge at Huddersfield Art Gallery, ‘Source’ at The Gallery at Sunny Bank Mills, ‘Through the Looking Glass’ by Swanfall Art at Mall Galleries London, ‘Print’ at Fronteer Gallery Sheffield, ‘Take Time’ at Ilkley Manor House (which she also curated) and ’40 for 40’ by West Yorkshire Print Workshop in Huddersfield.

Her screen prints are predominantly abstract, seeking to reflect on an experience of the environment or situation in which the artist finds herself. Much of the thinking and preparation time is spent on long walks in the Yorkshire Dales and messing about with scrap materials before a clean and ordered print emerges. She enjoys working with the screen printing process as a means of distilling work with the many and varied processes and materials used during the preparatory stages of the work, such as drawing, photography and collage work.
