PRINTMAKER PROFILE

ARTIST STATEMENT

I studied art for my teaching qualification and have practised different forms of arts and crafts over the years. I have a degree in restoration and conservation during which I restored mainly museum artefacts and upholstery. I often use fabric with my art work and have printed on different types. I have studied bookbinding and now make folders with printed paper I have produced.

I use different print methods such as collagraph, etching and relief but I’m drawn more to lino printing. I use the reduction method and enjoy the challenge of working out how much lino to cut away at each stage. The end result is often a surprise and not always the one I intended! That’s part of the fun.
