PRINTMAKER PROFILE

ARTIST STATEMENT

I was a secondary art teacher, before opening my own gallery and workshop area.

I am now retired, and work from home in Doncaster, using the garden shed and the dining room to print and collage my ideas. Often travelling to inspiring locations in Cornwall, Wales, Northumberland, Yorkshire dales and the Lake District, I am drawn to wild places and particularly love rocks and rushing water.

I have exhibited widely throughout the North of England, having solo exhibitions in Doncaster, Leeds, Mexborough and Richmond North Yorks.

I create my collagraphs on card, using a wide variety of found materials, mediums and papers to create the textures. I also scratch, scrape and sand areas to try to achieve a variety of different qualities of mark. I love the range of tones which can be produced, and the atmospheres I can create by varying the colours in each print.
