Please make sure that you have read and understood the guidelines before submitting your application form. If you have any queries please consult the FAQ page or contact the DPO Team for clarification. Please resolve your query before submitting your application.

Original Work

The exhibition is open to all artists (over the age of 16), based in the United Kingdom, working purely within the medium of printmaking.

All prints submitted must be original, hand-pulled fine art prints, produced using a recognised printmaking technique on archival papers (hand coloured, mixed-media and/or digital pieces will not be accepted). If you are unsure that your print(s) meet these requirements, please contact us to confirm before submitting your application form.

At present there is no size limit on work submitted. Please note, however, all work must be 2D based.

Submission Fee

All submission fees are non-refundable and offset costs incurred for administration, installation and promotional literature for the Derby Print Open.

Framed Work Submissions
£25 per entrant

Up to three (3) framed prints per entrant. Works may be part of a series or stand-alone. Upon selection, printmakers will be invited to include up to two (2) additional unframed prints from the same edition.

Unframed Work Submissions
£15 per entrant
Up to five (5) original unframed prints per entrant. Upon selection, printmakers will be invited to include up to two (2) additional unframed prints from the same edition.

Accepted Works

Applications are accepted incorporating any theme or subject, but works must have been produced after January 2018.

Entrants can submit up to 3 framed prints or up to 5 unframed prints. Subject to available space, each entrant will be guaranteed to exhibit at least one of the submitted works provided all other guidelines are adhered to.

If accepted, all work must be delivered to the studio, complete with a label on the reverse stating the artist's name, print title, medium and price.

All framed work must also be affixed with appropriately sized D-rings (1 inch down the frame, facing inwards on either side). Please note, fixtures provided must be large enough to support the weight of the frame.

Please ensure unframed prints are appropriately wrapped in cellophane (along with a loose acid-free backing board of the same size to prevent damage to prints) complete with a label on the reverse stating the artist's name, print title, medium and price.

We will also request (up to 2) additional unframed wrapped originals of works accepted. These unframed works will be made available for sale in print browsers and online.

All work available for sale will be subject to a 30% commission, if sold. NFS framed works are also accepted.

All work must be appropriately signed & editioned by the artist. Please note, we do not require work to part of an edition (monotypes are accepted).

Previously exhibited work is acceptable as long as the above requirements are met.
