PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

Nikki mainly favours intaglio techniques and often uses photography as a starting point for investigating overlooked objects and places. She is interested in unremarkable things, both domestic and environmental; and how they hold meaning, memory and history.

She works with etching, photopolymer, collagraph and cyanotypes to play with imagery and enjoys the process of making small editions. Recently she has been exploring the lines and forms of nature as the landscape winds down through Autumn into Winter, following the paths of the watercourse around her home. The examples shown here include multi plate prints and chine colle using cyanotypes on Japanese paper. Nikki has used stream water to process photopolymer plates and cyanotypes, and botanicals to tone the cyanotypes, attempting to use natural resources as both subject matter and agents of process.
