Nadine Johnson

PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

Nadine is a UK printmaker and art psychotherapist based in the West Midlands who is known as the Ink Stained Therapist. Working initially from her original photography or sketches, Nadine primarily uses photo etching and photopolymer printmaking techniques.

Paying homage to her dual heritage (British and Jamaican) Nadine’s creative inspiration comes primarily from European and Caribbean landscapes, especially coastal subjects and their associated debris and structures. Dramatic oceans, decaying structures and rusted locks combined with the lack of a figurative element speak to the power of nature. The artworks conveying a sense of strength, loss and fragility while still somehow appearing powerful, alluring and tranquil.

Nadine is passionate about nature and the ocean and has an ingrained sense of identity related to island landscapes, her recent works explore the pause and the unexpected in more urban landscapes. Nadine allows the subject to speak for itself through her delicate use of monotone and texture.
