PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

Marilyn Kyle is an artist based in the UK. Following her M.A in Fine Art Print (UAL, Wimbledon) and her earlier M.Ed Art in Education (Exeter), Marilyn’s practice broadened, from painting and printmaking, to include assemblage, installation and a wide range of media and processes. Exploration of ideas is often carried out through the medium of print: etching, drypoint, collagraph, monoprint. Some of these develop into the print as a final work or sometimes as printed elements combined with other media and processes. Whichever, print as a thinking process is an essential tool for her.

The central focus of her work concerns her position as woman, daughter, and mother. Marilyn explores her own experiences, many of which are common to others, as well as political debates around ‘woman’ and ‘the mother’. Recent works have used print and textiles as well as found objects. She is currently exploring the theme of the abandoned and is working with print, textiles and dressmakers’ pins.
