PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
The topic of my work focuses on the textures and forms found in the natural environment. My pieces are not an exact replica but an attempt at a translation of a moment witnessed.
I start with first hand observational drawings and photographic documentation, detailing textures, colours and patterns. These are the basis for my mark making decisions and colour choices when translating into a printed work. I am particularly drawn to screen printing for its potential to use colour layers to build up a print and create screen stencils using my textural hand drawn marks. I am interested in the varied effects of mark making using a variety of mediums and utensils and how this can be translated over from the sketchbook page into print.
I enjoy the quick results of print and the ability to work into a printed image to produce new and varied results. We can all view the same landscape in very different ways, and I enjoy laying down my unique perspective on the world around us.
