Jill Vigus
PRINTMAKER PROFILE
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am interested in the process of printmaking as it allows me to engage with subjects and create marks and effects that represent the multitude of experiences and emotions of people and places. I mostly work with etching, monotype, drypoint and more recently screen printing. This offers a rich variety of tones and textures to create, ambiguities, degradations and deep contrasts that represent the rich qualities of life.
While people are rarely present in my work it is very much about the human condition. I am interested in expressing the emotions and imagined feelings of the subject and subsequently the observer. I make prints, artist books and zines. My most recent qualification is an MA in Sequential Design/Illustration completed in 2016 at the University of Brighton.
