Fleur Ward

Fleur Ward is currently using their practice as a part of a journey exploring and understanding gender.

Process is at the forefront of their practice, pushing the technical limits of printmaking methods. Ward’s series of queer portraits is a rare occasion in which they have become personal with their work. Struggling with understanding their own gender, they began painting people they felt an affinity with. Creating these portraits, Ward hopes to subvert the viewers’ expectations of gender presentation and create an open and positive dialogue.

Ward chose to explore this process to see how much detail could be achieved by such an unpredictable method. While working to retain brush textures and serendipitous ink blending.
