PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
In my practice as an independent visual artist I exercise play as the main approach to creating work. My work helps me to remain curious and open towards the world and its turbulences. I am interested in storytelling as a mechanism of learning and social change. I draw back from the old forms of storytelling – the myths, the legends, the songs and the cosmogonies. I am fascinated by the concept of faith – especially the old beliefs focused on human relationship with nature.
What can we learn from being in a state of liminality? Can we use symbolical acts of prayer and worship to have a more balanced relationship with the world?
I have been working across the mediums of animation, printmaking and performance since 2016. My previous films have explored themes of connectivity and the subconscious, often through a poetic, abstract approach to storytelling; allowing the films to be accessible to the wider audience. Both of my major previous short films, award-winning ‘Illusions’ and BAFTA-nominated ‘Chado’ were accompanied by solo shows where the materials from the production were displayed. My pieces are material oriented, and I enjoy the tactility of making them. I invite chance into my work, many techniques I use are experimental and the results surprise me.

An ongoing visual experiment reflecting on the themes of alchemical transformation, ritualistic practice and prayer in the context of modern western society.
‘Black Rock’ is a volcanic landscape that came directly from my subconsciousness in a form of a dream. This space became populated with fictional characters and turned into a connection between my internal cosmology and a fictionilised narrative told through a form of visual storytelling. This is a work-in-progress exposition, building around a larger narrative that involves human character finding himself in a direct conversation with God. The cave, the malted lava and the black waters are all elements that are explored further in other visual pieces that are a part of the installation ‘Black Rock’.
Through use of printmaking, animation and sound I create a multi-layered narrative that brings together elements of myth, nature documentary and fictional drama.
First time the piece was shown in ‘Ut Supra, Sun Ingfa’ show at De Bouwput gallery as part of my residency in AGA Lab studios in Amsterdam, Holland in June 2022. The video materials was split into 3 parts, presented below. It was accompanied by a selection of intaglio prints and production plates.
