Cecilia Mackay

Cecilia Mackay has been printmaking in her spare time for over 10 years. Her background as an art historian and her day job as a picture editor in book publishing often show through in her graphic, illustrative style and a strong sense of narrative in her work.

She learnt her craft at Leicester Print Workshop and Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa.

She is particularly drawn to the transformative effects of light on her subjects, and relishes finding the best printmaking technique from her arsenal – be that screenprint, linocut, wood engraving or etching – to translate things that catch her eye most effectively into works on paper.

She regularly exhibits with the Leamington Studio Artists group and Warwickshire Open Studios. Her work has been exhibited at Leamington Spa Art Gallery, the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry, Southbank Printmakers in London, and at Ironbridge Fine Arts, Shropshire.
