Catherine Cronin
PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
Catherine Cronin is a born Londoner, a printmaker living and working in London, England.
Her work is graphic, colourful, and joyful, themed on encounters with natural and urban environments. She wants to place the reader of her work in a particular moment, to prompt an emotional response as well as thoughtfulness in the viewer. She hopes the work brings a pause for thought, a lightness of spirit, an escape from the busyness of modern life that can be overwhelming.
Catherine has been making and exhibiting artists’ books and prints since completing a degree Ba (Hons) Print Media Book Arts & Craft in 2001. Her artists’ books are held in private and public collections, including the Tate Library and Centre for Print Research, University of Western England. Catherine has continued to improve her print skills through self-learning, courses at City Literary Institute and East London Printmakers in London. She works from her home in Stepney Green and uses open access facilities at East London Printmakers. Catherine’s currently concerned with refreshing her intaglio print skills, and to produce a body of work based on Kew Gardens, a place dear to her heart.
