Catherine Cronin
PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
I have been making and exhibiting artists’ books, multiples, prints and mixed media since completing a degree Ba (Hons) Print Media Book Arts & Craft in 2001 at UAL. My work is held in private and public collections.
My work is often themed on encounters with natural and urban environments; I want to place the reader of my work in a particular moment, to prompt an emotional response as well as thoughtfulness in the viewer.
Recently I’ve been focussed on making prints about English owls, I’m particularly interested in their plumage, the camouflage effects, and the facial disc and eye formation. The evolution in animal characteristics to ensure success in a given environment is endlessly fascinating!
