PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
My practice is driven by the process and materiality of making through print and drawing, as well as engaging with landscape through walking. I am inspired by the patterns, textures and colours found in the natural world.
Through my work, I want to explore our connection to landscape in the age of the Anthropocene and a way of modern thinking that seems to separate ourselves from nature as if we are not a part of it. There is an apparent and collective inability to grasp the magnitude of the situation we find ourselves in, and part of tackling this requires empathy.
Empathy for both landscape and each other, as this is something we are doing to ourselves as well as the environment. I want to create worlds within my work that can bring us back to landscape by creating intriguing, sometimes strange spaces that ask the viewer to linger and place themselves within. I am also excited by the combination of photography and drawing, as well as the removal of borders as an additional way to bring the viewers into the image or even to bring the image into them. Maybe they can be places to reflect, being ambiguous enough to remind the viewer of a personal experience in landscape, and of home.
