PRINTMAKER PROFILE
ARTIST STATEMENT
In the mid-sixties I trained as a printed textile designer with secondary interest in printmaking. I did some teaching and then self-employment producing graphics for the exhibition industry, using screen printing as a production process. It is only 5 years ago that I returned to printmaking developing my style and relocating skills.
As a printmaker I try to adopt a broad approach to my image making, using a mixture of media usually including collagraph, relief, etching and screen-printing. This gives me a depth of field and a huge mixture of texture and colour, each allowing a build-up I can respond to or not.
My practice allows me to make many versions of similar looking images with different colourways.
I work in my cellar studio and work with a collective of printmakers, St Peter’s Printmakers, in Malvern Worcestershire. I also belong to and show with the Worcestershire Guild of Contemporary Crafts, of which I am now chair. In the past I have been successful in showing at Birmingham Society of Artists and the RE Open.
