PRINTMAKER PROFILE
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a printmaker, urbansketcher and collage artist. I primarily make collagraph prints, a technique I first learned at Leicester Print Workshop, and adopted as a home friendly practice. I use mainly found and recycled materials to make collagraph plates from. I print at home on a press in my kitchen inspired by landscapes along with natural and manmade patterns. I have recently been using deconstructed boxes as plates. The thin card of boxes that formerly contained medicine or toiletries is more delicate than using mountboard, but the shape and existing textures, along with the shapes and fragility is an interesting challenge.
I also make monoprints from natural materials. This year I have been using fallen leaves to print from using a Gelli plate and I have an ongoing interest in printing onto maps and tickets and then working further onto these with drawing and collage.
