PRINTMAKER PROFILE
BIOGRAPHY
I have a background in art education, being an art teacher and art educator in primary schools and higher education for many years. I have written two books to support students, teachers and teaching assistants who teach art and been part of a European research project into using art and digital technology creatively. I currently support a teacher in running a printmaking club with pupils in her school.
Alongside this role my own practice has been in printmaking, starting with etching and moving into collagraph printmaking as a more home friendly and sustainable process. I’ve attended courses and workshops at Leicester Print Workshop, The Yard Art Space and West Yorkshire Print Workshop to learn from other printmakers. Lately I have been using a Gelli Plate for monoprinting and exploring using blind embossing and chine collé in collagraph prints.
I also run the Urbansketchers group in Northampton, regularly sketching outdoors from observation locally and further afield – this sometimes feeds into my printmaking. Recently I have been inspired by the sequence of full moons and the prints submitted here reflect some of that art.
