What’s new for 2020…

01 January 2020

As we are gearing up for this year’s call for submissions, we wanted to review what is new for the Derby Print Open 2020…

Unframed Print Submissions
As of 2020, we are now accepting submissions for unframed prints as well as framed! Printmakers are invited to submit up to 5 unframed original prints. This will (hopefully!) make things easier in regards to postage fees for those further afield from Derby and allow for a more cost-effective option to promote your work. That being said, we do still encourage submissions of up to 3 framed prints to be part of our salon style exhibition and really stand out in this year’s Derby Print Open!

Print Trail
This year, the Derby Print Open team has decided to focus more on one, concentrated exhibition, in order to best maximise the sense of community within printmaking into a singular space. As such, we have made the decision to put the Print Trail on hold for 2020, but are hoping to re-integrate it into the Derby Print Open 2021, with a view to expand and build on this year’s foundations.

Awards
We are currently in the process of partnering with local businesses and printmaking suppliers to put together a portfolio of awards for this year’s lucky participants. As part of the application process, we are asking for your input in regards to possible award types. This information will help us develop a sense of what participants would like to receive as an award and, in-turn focus our outreach to potential award givers.

Open Weekend
To kick off the exhibition launch this year we are also organising a Derby Print Open Weekend. We hope to offer all visitors the opportunity to take part in taster sessions, talks and demonstrations hosted by participants and friends of Green Door Printmaking Studio! More information TBA if you would like to be involved!
