PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

Transformation is fundamental to printmaking. In my recent prints I’ve taken a particular image as a starting point: sometimes a drawing or print of my own, sometimes from elsewhere, for example a Rembrandt etching or a Morandi painting.

On the way to the final printed image, various processes – digital, manual, automatic, intentional, unintentional – remove and add information to make a new image, one which couldn’t have been anticipated by its ancestor, but which couldn’t exist without it.
