PRINTMAKER PROFILE

ARTIST STATEMENT

Most of my work features images from the natural world – landscapes and organic forms. I am particularly interested in patterning in the natural world, in repetitious shapes etc. World travelling, distance walking and gardening all give me inspiration for my printmaking.

I make drawings plein air and also use photographs in preparation for working on aluminium, zinc or copper plates. I tend to work in monochrome, producing prints which have a strong contrast in tone and form. I use etching, drypoint, collagraph and mixed media techniques, printing onto archival paper, linen and silk.

I have exhibited widely in Sheffield and the north of England, most recently at Dronfield Old Hall Barn and Buxton Art Gallery. Prior to the lockdown period I exhibited in the Harley and Ferens galleries. An active, founder member of Sheffield Printmakers (SP) I am also a member of Sheffield Visual Arts Group (S.V.A.G.). The latter group campaigns to enhance public access to art and art education.
