PRINTMAKER PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY

My interest in art and the world of art has always been a part of my life. I received a grade A at A level art then a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design at West Nott’s college before studying Applied Arts at the University of Derby. I am an exhibiting member of Nottingham Society of Artist where I regally display my work in the city centre gallery as well as lead a weekly life drawing group for the society. I am a member of Green Door Printmaking Studio, Derby.

I enjoy exploring a diverse range of subject matter through my art work. I am influenced by the natural world as well as the many places I visit. I try to experience and observe first hand the subjects I make art from, these encounters are important to me, this way of working gives me an emotional narrative to create a wide variety of work, inspired by nature in all its various forms. My style of work depends on the media I use and the emotion I am trying to portray. I am most at ease with drawing, either with a simple pencil line, coloured pencil or intaglio print. I use soft wavy lines and curved shapes to create calm and peaceful vibes within my artwork. I often like to include hues of blue and purple within my work which helps me explain and portray my personality and how I experience the world that blankets me.
