I trained in Fine Art/Sculpture at Derby, Birmingham and Nottingham. For several years I have been making drypoint prints. The cutting and varied mark making relates to my interest in sculpture, drawing, collage and photography. Landscape and nature are constant themes for inspiration. I am not always sure how a plate will develop. The working process and accidents suggest ideas. Sometimes the work is inspired by music or created as a visual score for improvising musicians. I often reuse plates, making minor changes or more drastic, so only a brief memory of the past remains. I usually work directly on copper, but have explored zinc and steel plates and recycling material. Recently I have been experimenting with Tetra Paks enjoying both its similarities of mark making with copper but also its vast differences.
